Texture and Faux Finish

Faux finishing is a painting technique used to create the illusion of texture on a wall. Most faux finishing is applying one or more accent colors over a base color. This technique usually requires several applications over several days.

There are many advantages applying faux finishes over conventional wall finishes like wallpaper, paint, paneling etc. It can be applied to almost all surfaces, including dry wall, sheet rock, plastering, wood, metal, fabric, glass, and ceramic. Faux Finish can hide the imperfections of most any surface. Faux Finish can change how large or small a room looks.

Faux Finish Techniques:

Sponge Finishes - This is the most common faux finishes usually created with natural sea sponges, applying one or more accent colors over the base coat.
Ragging or Rag Roll Finish - Rag-rolling is a faux finish similar in technique to the sponge finish, but you use rags instead.
Parchment Glaze - A variation on the ragging technique that produces a finish that looks like old parchment.
